A thought from the First rain.

On Monday, 23rd January 2017, it rained for the first time this year in my current location, I was in the office and suddenly, the heavens opened and down came the rain, it was slightly heavy, but never lasted long enough to rid the ground of the accumulated heat and dust of the harmattan and dry season. Immediately my mind raced towards the planting season and it came to me again, that if it rains well for at least two times after this first one, the farmers will pick up their tools and head to the farm. In a split second, Genesis 8:22 played out in my sub conscious mind and it was like I could literally feel the verse unfold before me. In case you are not conversant with that scripture, it says “While the earth remains, seed-time and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.”(ESV).
God in his infinite power has divided the cycle of life into times and seasons, I see it like this, He has given the sons of men the privilege to take advantage of past seasons that they missed. Don’t you think that there is a reason for which God gave men the wisdom to divide the times and seasons into months and years? It helps them to enhance and take advantage of the principles of sowing and reaping as ordained by God himself. The timeless truth is that you cannot reap anything if you sowed nothing.
January 2017, is gone forever, the race to take advantage of 2017 has already advanced, many workers have received their monthly salaries for January 2017, and for some, its expenses all the way as usual (please don’t fall into this category), while some have saved something not minding how little, others are already investing in things that will yield profits later in the year or even after. You may not be a salary earner but one way or the other money has entered your hands this month or previously, what plan do you have for the money? (Please keep your answer in your heart). Are you still among those that wonder half way into every month what they did with their salary? In real terms, all of us have got plans for our money, even if you did not actively settle down to tell your money where it should go, that action alone automatically translates to waste, that’s also a plan, but an unwise one.
A notable man of God in Nigeria said that “he is not surprised how far God has brought them; rather he would have been surprised if they were not where they are now.” What gave him that boldness to declare such a powerful statement? He has understood that law of times and seasons and took effective advantage of those laws, life would have been unfair not to respond to him in the magnitude of his deposits.
I want to ask you today,
Are you already taking advantage of the season 2017 has afforded you financially?
Do you have a financial plan for 2017?
Have you started working towards it or have you forgotten about it?
Remember, to reap something later, you must sow something today.
Peace.
