Financial Tip from the Bus stop-2

In my last post, I shared a story about our staff bus, myself and some of my colleagues. The lesson there has to do with ‘ knowledge’, there were days when I came to the bus stop later than usual, knowing that the bus would have passed, I sought for other means of getting to the office, and of course, it will cost me additional time, energy and resources to get this done. But for that day in question, the fact that I saw the bus pass meant that I possessed the knowledge that I wasn’t late even though the time for staff bus to come had passed. I also wasn’t bothered when some of my colleagues sought for another means to get to the office, also because I knew well enough that the staff bus would still come.
The central word from the above is knowledge and that’s the point I want you to understand. Knowledge about finances and its principles is something you cannot afford to be ignorant about, if you must dominate your world financially.
Knowledge generally is defined as a familiarity, awareness or understanding of someone or something, such as facts, information, descriptions, or skills, which is acquired through experience or education by perceiving, discovering, or learning. It is knowledge that has equipped man with the limitless power with which man dominates over all beings who are physically much stronger than him. Knowledge has helped him to conquer the nature and this conquest has promoted human progress and civilization. The truth remains that you can dominate poverty with all of its paraphernalia; your only undoing has been how much you know in the area of finances. How much time, energy and resources have you spent to find out what God’s will is in the area of finances, and how committed have you been in working them out in your life? Sir Francis Bacon’s famous aphorism, "knowledge is power” comes in handy to further buttress the importance of knowledge. Without knowledge, there is no growth, but it has to be the right kind of knowledge. It has to be more than academic knowledge, it has to be what the Greeks call ‘EPIGNOSIS’(correct and precise knowledge), this is the type that sets a man free which changes the destiny of any man forever, when it is properly applied.
We always know more about any given subject than we ever apply. In fact, our application probably derives from less than five per cent of our total knowledge, much of which we never use; but it is that frame of reference, our pool of knowledge, that provides the necessary frame of reference for what we do apply. The Christian life is based on thinking; thinking is based on knowledge, and knowledge is the result of learning. Learning is the result of consistency, determination, prioritization, and refusing to be distracted by the details of life.
Isaiah 5:13 NASB “Therefore My people go into exile for their lack of knowledge; and their honorable men are famished, and their multitude is parched with thirst.”
John 8:32 NASB “and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” There is no freedom in the spiritual life if you don’t know the truth.
If you discovered that your doctor stopped reading thirty years ago, would you have confidence in him? Surely all knowledge is dynamic and there are new techniques discovered year after year, and almost week by week. People are ill and in pain and doctors must keep up with those advances. So it is with the Christian, a great man of God once said that “there are no mountains anywhere, it is any man’s ignorance that is his mountain.” Why don’t you make a decision today to go all the way for knowledge as to what God has said and is still saying about your finances, the next phase of your life, the miracle you have been praying for and the change you desire for yourself and your family might be dependent on it.
