The Financial Gardener

“…for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was NOT a man to till the ground.” Genesis 2:5

Verse 1 and 2 of the same chapter 2 states clearly that God had finished the creation of the Heavens and the Earth, but in verse 5, we now discover that God himself (and not the devil) deliberately withheld rain from falling on the earth. Before I continue, hear this, the devil is too small to stop you if you obey and satisfy the conditions for wealth and prosperity that has been put in place by God himself.

Currently in Nigeria, we are in what we call the Dry season, and as the name implies, it is majorly characterized by the lack of rainfall, dry ground and plants, withering of leaves due to the lack of moisture caused by the absence of rain over a period of time. Many people do not go to farm at this period, more also, less concern is given to the activities of weeds as they too find it hard to grow owing to lack of moisture. But everything changes once the rain comes, and all those things that weren’t there before starts to manifest. Farming activities kick off with so much strength and vigour. And as you know, farms do not cultivate and maintain themselves, serious people do the work of maintaining them and they reap the profits later. Also lazy people are never effective in the managing of farms because of the conditions that must be met to ensure a good harvest.

Liken this to yourself and the showers of financial blessings that you believe God for, do you understand that God doesn’t just throw wealth about? What would you do if you find yourself in a place of abundant wealth? How did you manage the little you received previously? What of the one you have now? He has a reason for releasing abundance upon men and he never gives it to people who do not understand why God wants them to be wealthy and do not care to know but only wants to enjoy the benefits thereof, they can be called the “mentally lazy” Christians.

One of the major reasons God sends real wealth to his people is for the expansion of the frontiers of his kingdom (Zechariah 1:17), in Haggai 1:4-10, the people didn’t prosper because they left the house of God in ruins, they left the work of God undone; so the heavens over them withheld its dew and the earth didn’t bring forth fruit for them. That means when God prospers you He expects you to use part of it for His kingdom work. You are to use it to spread the gospel and make the name of Jesus a household name, use it to make it possible for souls to be won into the kingdom of God.

Soul winning is the passion of God, for it is not His will that any should perish, therefore when God blesses you He expects you to use part of it to fulfill His heart desire, which is that all men be saved (1 Timothy 2:4). You must be kingdom minded if desire to be wealthy as a Christian, our text focus reveals that there were trees, plants, herbs, and flowers, but a GARDENER was needed to get out of the earth everything that the earth could yield, Jesus asked us to pray to “the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.”(Matt 9:38), we should note that we are expected to be “financial labourers” for the kingdom.

Hear this today, it all begins with God and his purpose, that in itself is the reason why you were created in the first place, develop a kingdom gardener’s mindset if you need wealth, be ready to pray for the kingdom, be ready to study the word and other relevant materials so as to among other things develop kingdom attitudes and mindsets as it relates to your finances, be ready to make kingdom needs your personal needs, be ready to stand for the kingdom and defend it with your strength, resources and even with your life, dedicate your whole life to seeking the advancement of the kingdom of God on earth. Be a gardener indeed and wealth will naturally flow towards you.

The point is this, you must build yourself into the man/woman who God can trust with his resources, many have abused this priviledge and many are still doing that currently, you must seek to become and then become the man that God will see and release wealth to you, your family or people around you. The destinies of many were tied to Adam doing his work well, so also are many destinies tied to your becoming the gardener of God, you complain about many unfortunate things bedeviling this country today and I can state it categorically that they are like this today because many whose responsibility it was yesterday “to till the garden” failed to do that, but the good news today is that your turn has come and its now your responsibility to play your own part in destiny, will you still fail? God is counting on you to be a gardener for him, rise up and therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees and get to work.

You will not fail.
